Running on the 29th March at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, the First Act Film Festival will celebrate Scotland's young talent as we present a program of films made in Scotland, or by Scottish filmmakers. The Festival is a free event that will open the 2016 Glasgow Youth Arts Festival, and will provide that important first opportunity for a young filmmaker to share their work with the world.
The program will be followed by talks from established members of Scotland's film industry as well as an official awards ceremony, where our panel will present awards in the categories of Best Film, Best Cinematography and Best Editing. It has always been the mission of Young Filmmakers Glasgow to provide support for aspiring filmmakers, and this is our first major step of 2016. Not only are we ecstatic to be providing a platform for young artists to show their films, but we're passionate about bringing young people - just like us - together. The First Act Film Festival is an amazing chance for Scotland's young talent to unite, and begin work on a nationwide network for filmmakers. On the night, we will also be officially announcing our next biggest project of the year: the First Act Film Fund. This is a fund in early development that intends to provide a film education around the production of a scripts written by 16-25 year olds. But for now, we can't wait for your submission and the chance to screen your film to a wonderful, creative nation. Scotland awaits.
