Dear Scotland,
We're delighted to announce one of our biggest projects for the year: the First Act Film Festival.
Running on March 29th at the Centre For Contemporary Arts on Sauchiehall Street, the First Act Film Festival will showcase the finest short films made by 15 to 25 year old Scottish filmmakers. As part of our 2016 pledge, we're aiming to provide that important first opportunity for young filmmakers across the country to share and discuss their work with their country, as we open the 2016 Glasgow Youth Arts Festival.
Another aim for this year is to connect all of Scotland's young filmmakers and organisations - and we'd love to invite every young individual and arts collective to attend. We're excited to be holding a Q&A after the program, where a panel of both new and established filmmakers can share their experiences and reflect on the current landscape of Scottish film. The Festival will include an awards ceremony, and post-program networking.
The First Act Film Festival Committee, a braw group of young filmmakers from all over the world, met for an open meeting on January 5th to get to work. This is a voluntary project that's open to all young people, so I'd love for you to head along to meetup.com/YoungFilmmakersGlasgow and join us to keep informed of our meeting times and locations.
This is an exciting chance for you to get involved in putting together a wonderful night in celebration of Scotland's young artists, and help provide the opportunity for the country's upcoming filmmakers to unite over film.
Soon to be announced are the night's special guests, and the Festival poster.
The most exciting part right now is that soon you'll be able to send us your short film for festival consideration.
Submissions open next week - just look for our call.
- Sean
